LEIGHTRONIX, Products
Digital Channel and Storage Expansion with the TOTAL SHARE Networking Option

The LEIGHTRONIX TOTAL SHARE™ networking option allows users with NEXUS series products to increase both local digital media storage and overall digital playback/record channel capacity. With the TOTAL SHARE option, you can create a dedicated high-speed network that supports a combination of up to two NEXUS series units and up to four network attached storage (NAS) devices.

Maximum Capacity of TOTAL SHARE Network

Expanded/Shared Storage

The TOTAL SHARE option allows users with NEXUS series products to increase their local media storage with up to four LEIGHTRONIX NAS storage devices. The NEXUS series video servers on the TOTAL SHARE network can access digital media on NAS storage devices also connected to the dedicated network.

Add up to four NAS storage devices to the TOTAL SHARE network, for a total system storage capacity of 16 TB for UltraNEXUS/UltraNEXUS-SDI systems (12 TB of TOTAL SHARE network attached storage plus the standard 4 TB of USB storage) and 5 TB for NEXUS systems (4 TB of TOTAL SHARE network attached storage plus the standard 1 TB of USB storage).

Increased Channel Capacity

Increase your system's channel capacity by attaching two NEXUS series video servers to the TOTAL SHARE network. The NEXUS series units share all NAS devices on the TOTAL SHARE network, creating a modular video server system. The overall system channel capacity equals the combined channel capacity of both servers:

  • NEXUS + NEXUS = 4 MPEG Playback Channels, 2 MPEG Record Channels
  • NEXUS + UltraNEXUS/UltraNEXUS-SDI = 4 MPEG Playback Channels, 1 MPEG Record Channel, 1 Dual MPEG Record Channel (Broadcast & VOD)
  • UltraNEXUS/UltraNEXUS-SDI + UltraNEXUS/UltraNEXUS-SDI = 4 MPEG Playback Channels, 2 Dual MPEG Record Channels (Broadcast & VOD)

LEIGHTRONIX makes it easy to manage TOTAL SHARE networked devices. The WinLGX software provided with the NEXUS series products allows users to control both servers from one user interface. NEXUS series servers on the TOTAL SHARE network can share digital media on TOTAL SHARE NAS devices.

LEIGHTRONIX LGX-4TBR-N

Part Number:  LGX-4TBR-N

Capacity:  4000GB

NOTE: Supported NAS storage devices are configured and shipped in RAID 5 mode. RAID 5 has become one of the most popular modes for drive array configuration due to its optimum balance of total capacity and drive redundancy.

The RAID 5 configuration uses a portion of each drive in the array for "parity data," which allows the array to be more tolerant of data loss should any one drive fail. As a result, the typical storage "yield" in a RAID 5, four drive array is equal to 75% of the overall array storage capacity. Storage devices may be reconfigured in the field for any of the supported RAID modes to achieve one of the following storage capacities:

Supported RAID Modes Storage Capacity*
RAID 0** No Redundancy, 100% Yield of Overall Array Capacity
RAID 1 Full Redundancy (Mirrored), 50% Yield of Overall Array Capacity
RAID 5 Fault Tolerant, 75% Yield of Overall Array Capacity

The RAID array capacity displayed will vary per application.

** When using RAID 0 mode on your NAS storage device, LEIGHTRONIX recommends backing up digital media with the Total Backup™ application.
