Supported USB Hard Drives

The LEIGHTRONIX UltraNEXUS, NEXUS, and TCD/NX video servers store MPEG video files on one to four external USB hard drives.  The NEXUS and TCD/NX can each support a total of up to one terabyte of USB storage, while the UltraNEXUS can support up to four terabytes. Each drive must be formatted with a single, primary, FAT32 partition (32K allocation unit size required). The LGX-HD500-GT and LGX-HD1000-GT hard drives sold by LEIGHTRONIX are preformatted, tested, and ready to use right out of the box.

If you purchase a hard drive elsewhere, you will need additional software to properly format it, and the model must be on the "compatible" list below. Windows 2000/XP will not format hard drives over 32 gigabytes as FAT32. A third-party program must be used instead. LEIGHTRONIX recommends Disk Director Suite from Acronis, available for purchase at www.acronis.com. It can format FAT32 drives up to 1 terabyte, even RAID configured drives. (Free programs exist to format drives under 500 gigabytes, but LEIGHTRONIX is not aware of any free software to format drives over 500 gigabytes.) Please use the drive's part number when ordering, as different drives may have nearly identical model names. LEIGHTRONIX does not endorse any of the drives listed on this page.
